Performance Air Motive, Inc.

Performance Air Motive is a family owned and operated aircraft maintenance business located on Anderson Lake in Wasilla, Alaska. Before opening Performance Air, Butch Cavanaugh spent the previous 10 years working on small aircraft at Lake Hood in Anchorage, Alaska. Tiring of the commute, Butch opened Performance Air to be closer to his home in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Performance Air was born of humble beginnings, Butch began working out of a rented corner in a hangar at the Palmer Airport in 1992. Soon, Butch erected his own hangar on Anderson Lake in 1994, where Performance Air remains located today.

Performance Air specializes in general aircraft maintenance, with a clientele ranging from private pilots that keep airplanes for recreational use to large flight service and wilderness lodges that use their planes to take clients to remote fishing and hunting destinations throughout Alaska. Performance Air is capable of accepting jobs on all manner of aircraft, from Super Cubs that need an annual inspection to engine replacements on a Grumman Goose, and everything in between. Performance Air regularly performs inspection, maintenance, and repair services on Cessna’s, Cubs, and de Havilland Beavers.

Performance Air is known throughout Alaska for their Super Cub rebuilds, Butch and his team have rebuilt several Super Cubs from the ground up, adding any imaginable modification or legally approvable component that meets the owner’s needs and specifications.
